Are Credit Card Surcharges Legal in my State?

This credit card convenience fee ban has been tossed around America, but each state has a right to approve or disapprove convenience tax. Why did these certain states ban this? Many merchants and store owners think they will create a higher level of complaints and objection if these card surcharges are put in place. In a world were every other street has a going out of business sign, a lot of store owners find it more profitable to sign up for surcharging credit cards as a way of recovering from COVID.

There was a federal lawsuit allowing credit card charges to exist in the USA though each state has the right to decide whether or not to enforce this fee.
